Darlene M. Jackson, 89, of Slater passed away Saturday, July 24, at Big Bend Retreat.

Darlene was born July 28, 1931, in Miami, to the late Tom Morrell and Lula Mae (McClain) Gilliam.

She was the owner/operator of Johnson Package Liquor Store in Slater for more than 20 years.  

Darlene belonged to First Baptist Church in Slater, MO.

She is survived by her children Richard Johnson of Gilliam, Lynda Wiseman of Grain Valley, MO, Edward “Butch” Johnson of Gilliam, Arvin “Ray” Johnson of Slater and Marchell “Trinket” Harris and her husband James of Miami; sister Gloria M. Thierfelder of Marshall; along with nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two husbands Marvin Eugene Johnson and John Murray Jackson and two sons.

Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Rehoboth Cemetery with Terry Sandwith officiating. There will be no visitation. Pallbearers will be Janthony Johnson, Jason Hill, James Harris, Reannen Hill, Abram Butler, Jarid King, Jake Shaffer and Alexica Valiquette. Friends may come by Weiker Funeral Home, Monday July 26 from noon until 5 p.m. to sign the register book.  Memorials are suggested to Big Bend Retreat or Fitzgibbon Mary Montgomery Hospice.
