A 34-year-old Lexington man changed his plea to a couple of felony charges in court recently.
According to a probable-cause statement, Thomas Kopp was arrested after Lafayette County authorities executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence on September 14, 2020, and seized drugs, drug paraphernalia, firearms and ammunition.
Kopp pleaded not guilty on January 19 to felonies for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon, as well as a drug-related misdemeanor.
During a plea/trial-setting hearing on July 19, Kopp changed his plea to guilty on the possession and misdemeanor charges at Lafayette County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to spend seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections and 60 days in the Lafayette County Jail on the misdemeanor charge, with the sentences to run concurrently. The court dismissed the weapons charge.
