An Independence man is facing felony charges for allegedly stealing a vehicle and firearms in Cooper County on June 29.

According to a Boonville Police report, a resident reported his truck was stolen. Inside the truck were a semiautomatic pistol and semiautomatic rifle.

Later that day, the Sedalia Police Department located the truck crashed and not driveable in Sedalia. Arrested was Gregory Patrick Watson, who had possession of the victim’s checkbook, motor-vehicle registration renewal paperwork and the pistol.

Court documents say Watson is charged with a felony for stealing a motor vehicle and two counts of a felony for stealing a firearm. Bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety.

Watson’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
