The number of active cases of COVID-19 continues to climb in the KMMO listening area.

According to the Lafayette County Health Department, as of Friday, July 30, there are 77 active cases in the county. The positivity rate for tests is 12.5 percent. Seven persons are hospitalized.

In all, there have been 2,906 positive cases- up 211 in July- and 60 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Saline County Health Department says there currently are 60-plus active cases of COVID-19 under the age of 50 in the county.

That includes 48 persons who are unvaccinated (two have received the first dose only); and 10 persons who are vaccinated. Five persons currently are hospitalized.
