Henry E. Hopkins, age 88, of Marshall and formerly of Slater, died Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, at Slater City Cemetery, with Terry Jordan officiating.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. There will be no visitation. Weiker Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of the arrangements.

Born December 4, 1932 in Slater, he was the son of the late Fred H. and Velda Reynolds Hopkins.

He is survived by two sons, James H. Hopkins of Marshall, and Charles L. Hopkins and his wife Carroll of Killeen, Texas; five daughters, Velda P. Weinreich of Marshall, Linda S. Peppiatt and her husband Tim of Canton, Kansas, Lucinda Bom and her husband Danny of Sedalia, Jeanie Tharp and her husband Michael of Canton, Kansas, and Joy Scharnhorst and her husband Danny of Lee’s Summit; numerous grand, great-grand, great-great-grand, and great-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ford of Slater.  He was preceded in death by a son, Randy; a daughter Amy; a brother, Charles Hopkins; and a sister, Ida Miller.

Mr. Hopkins was a retired farmer. He enjoyed playing pool, and was a member of the North Central Indiana American Pool Players Association.  He had lived in Saline County most of his life.
