During its meeting on Monday, August 2, the Marshall City Council voted to approve second readings of a couple of ordinances.
The council approved an ordinance to authorize the Marshall Municipal Utilities’ Board of Public Works to execute a contract with Coleman Plumbing of Marshall related to the expansion of fiber-optic internet service in and near the city of Marshall.
During a recent meeting of the Board of Public Works, MMU General Manager Jeff Bergstrom said the plan is for the work to begin toward the end of this month.
The contract calls for the installation of conduit, pull boxes and pedestals for the expansion of fiber-optic internet service within underserved areas near Marshall at a cost of $592,000.
In addition, the council approved an ordinance to establish a procedure to disclose potential conflicts of interest and substantial interests for certain officials.
