Firefighters were toned out to a structure blaze in Malta Bend on Monday, August 9.
According to Malta Bend Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ryan Graver, firemen were toned out at 8:30 p.m. to a house on fire at 203 North Linn. They arrived on the scene about six minutes later, and noted the back half of the house was fully involved in flames.
Graver said firefighters had the blaze knocked down and under control by 8:50 p.m. but stayed on the scene until about 11 p.m. to put out hot spots.
Graver said seven firefighters were on the scene from his department, and the Marshall Fire Department was called in for mutual-aid. Marshall sent four firemen and two apparatuses.
The American Red Cross was called to aid the family; and Evergy was called due to a power line to the house being knocked down.
The fire was determined to be electrical in nature.
The house was deemed unlivable.
There were no injuries reported from the scene.
