
A 61-year-old man who was an inmate at the Boonville Correctional Center last summer and has been charged with a couple of felonies for allegedly attacking one of its personnel on July 1, 2020, is due in court.
William Riggs is accused of entering a Housing Unit at the facility physically attacking the Institutional Probation Officer. Riggs also admitted to an investigator that he had planned to rape her.
Court documents say Riggs, who currently is an inmate in Jefferson City, is charged with felonies for violence to an employee of the department of corrections by an inmate and an unclassified felony for rape or attempted rape in the first degree- aggravated sexual assault. Bond remains at $300,000 cash or surety.
Riggs’ pleaded not guilty on March 2. Riggs’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
