A Benton County deputy had to be flown from the scene of an accident on Tuesday, August 10.
According to a press release from Sheriff Eric Knox, at approximately 4:55 p.m. Henry County Dispatch was notified by an Apple Watch worn on Deputy Chasady Botteron’s wrist that a hard hit was detected. The call was forwarded to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at 4:57 p.m.
Soon after, a citizen reported a patrol vehicle off the roadway approximately six miles West of Lincoln on Route C. Deputy Botteron apparently suffered a medical event, and went off the roadway, through a ditch and fence line. Medics arrived on the scene shortly after and assessed Botteron with a possible C-spine injury.
Botterton was life-flighted to a Kansas City area hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
According to an update from Knox late last night, Botteron has been discharged from the hospital and is OK.
