The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Lafayette County increased again on Thursday, August 12.

According to the Lafayette County Health Department, there were 128 active cases in the county as of Thursday. The total was 127 the day before.

The current active cases break down as: 26 in Lexington; 22 in Odessa; 15 in Higginsville; six in each rural Oak Grove and Bates City; four in Mayview; three in Waverly; two in each Corder and Wellington; and one in Concordia.

Forty-nine of the active cases are age 20 to 39; 28 are 40 to 59; 24 are youths up to age 11; 18 are 60 and older; and nine are 12 to 19.

Health department officials say 35 percent of the county’s residents are fully vaccinated; and 40.9 percent have received at least one dose of a two-dose series.

Health department officials add that walk-in vaccination clinics are being held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays at the health department in Lexington throughout the month of August.
