
The Concordia Board of Aldermen reviewed the minutes of the Parks Board meeting that was held on August 9, during its meeting on Monday, August 16.
According to unofficial minutes from the BOA meeting, aldermen approved a motion to finance the Concordia Park Improvements using a lease-purchase in the amount of $1,000,000 for 20 years.
Aldermen also voted to use any remainder of the annual funds of the designated 85-percent portion of revenues created by the tax for maintenance and improvements allowed through Parks Operations funding.
According to the Lafayette County Clerk’s Office, on August 3, Concordia voters approved the city to be authorized to increase its general fund levy by 35 cents per $100 of assessed value to be used for general municipal purposes- including but not limited to- funding the acquisition of and improvements to Concordia Park (Southside Park), walking trails, new bathrooms, playground equipment and other park improvements by a 100 to 47 margin.
In other news, aldermen approved the Good Shepherd Care Community to conduct a Foamtastic 5K Run/Walk on August 28, with a rain date of September 6.
The board also approved a request by the Concordia High School cheerleading squad to paint SW 12th Street for Homecoming the week of October 3.
