Property owners in an area school district will see their school tax rate go down slightly this year.
According to unofficial minutes from the Glasgow School Board meeting on Wednesday, August 18, the board approved a tax-levy rate of $4.7745 per 100 of assessed valuation of real and personal property. This rate is 6.86 cents less than the rate last year.
Despite the lower rate, the district still expects to see fairly level revenues because the overall assessed valuation increased by 6.38 percent.
In other news, the board set the out-of-district tuition rate at $10,000 for the 2021-22 school year. This is the same rate as last year and $179 less than the most current per-pupil expenditure rate.
Also, the board extended 10 days of COVID leave to school employees and reviewed the COVID guidelines that were shared with school families last week after being approved by the Howard County Health Department.
The board also offered contracts to Janine Machholz (elementary principal); Jennifer Moorehead (part-time Title I teacher); and Brooke Barron (paraprofessional).
