During the Marshall City Council meeting on Monday, August 16, the council approved the first readings of a couple of ordinances.

One involves stocking trout, according to Marshall Parks and Recreation Director Chad Unterreiner.

It was pointed out that trout are sensitive to warmer temperatures. Unterreiner says the plan is that hopefully most of the trout will be caught prior to warmer weather.

In other news, City Attorney Josh Taylor explained a proposed ordinance regarding court automation software.

The council will have to approve the second reading of the proposed ordinances during a future meeting before they will go into effect.

In other news, Ward 2 Councilman Robert Ashford gave an update regarding the Gieringer Property- which sits at the corner of South Lincoln Avenue and Watermill Road. Ashford said fieldwork for the survey has been completed, so “Now they will proceed with the finalized drawings, and that may take five to six months.”
