The Marshall-Saline Development Corporation held a special board meeting regarding the National Steam Boat Museum project near the Marshall Junction on Friday, August 20.

During its meeting, Bill Stouffer made a request to utilize MSDC to hold funds for the Steam Boat Museum fundraising efforts.

After a discussion, Stouffer clarified local funds would be considered as Saline County and its seven surrounding counties, which includes Carroll, Chariton, Howard, Cooper, Pettis, Johnson and Lafayette.

The board approved a motion for MSDC Executive Director Cydney Mayfield and board president Jene Crook to authorize an engagement letter with Foulston Siefkin LLP to provide legal analysis on the transaction presented to MSDC on behalf of the Steamboat Museum.

In other business the board approved a request from Monsanto/Bayer for gravel in their driveway at its Industrial park location.
