A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Sedalia School District 200’s new Early Childhood Center was part of Economic Development Sedalia-Pettis County’s 2021 Sedalia Showcase on Thursday, August 19, presented in conjunction with the Missouri State Fair.
According to the district, local dignitaries, lawmakers and business owners attended, along with members of the Sedalia 200 School Board, ECC teachers and staff and district administrators.
The 40,000-square-foot facility is a state-of-the-art early childhood learning center that was designed with input from ECC Principal Joel Sherman, previous ECC Principal Grace Kendrick and current ECC teachers and staff members.
State Representative Brad Pollitt, who started the planning process for the center when he was Sedalia 200 Superintendent, said, “This is a beautiful facility but I can tell you as a past superintendent, they are going to put some fantastic teachers in that building who care about the kids, who have done great things with lesser facilities. Now that they have a new facility with modern technologies and modern equipment, they’re going to do an even better job.”
After the ceremony, attendees had a chance to tour the building.
