Five persons have been charged in connection with an investigation allegedly involving controlled substances last month in Saline County.

Charges were filed regarding the monitoring of incoming and outgoing audio and video calls and text messages from inmates housed at the Saline County Justice Facility. Each time an audio or video call is created, the system logs the phone numbers the messages from which they are sent and received.

Court documents say Margaret Jane Bromley, of Independence, is charged with a felony for delivery of a controlled substance; and Mikayla Nicole Ferguson, of Kansas City, Dionte Chapman, of Independence, Da’Montae Chapman, of Kansas City, and Gary House, of St. Joseph, are charged with a felony for conspiracy to commit a Class A, B or C felony. Bond for each subject is set at $15,000 cash only.

According to a release from Saline County Sheriff Cindi Mullins, Da’Montae Chapman is in custody in Saline County, and House currently is an inmate in Buchanan County. The other three subjects have active warrants for their arrest.

Da’Montae Chapman was arraigned on August 20. His next court proceeding is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, at Saline County Circuit Court. Hearings for all of the other subjects are pending.
