
Due to voters approving a 35-cent increase in the tax levy during the special election on August 3, residents in Concordia will be seeing a tax increase this year.
According to unofficial minutes from a special meeting of the board of aldermen on Monday, August 23, the board approved the new levy rate at 88.97 cents per $100 of assessed valuation of real and personal property. The rate last year was 53.97 cents. The rate now will have to be approved by the state auditor’s office.
In other news, the board accepted the resignation of City Clerk Susan Flandermeyer. Mayor Michael Brown thanked Flandermeyer for her 15 years of service.
The board also set the public hearing regarding the presentation of the budget at 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 28.
