A good number of residents in the Marshall School District had the assessed valuation of their real estate and personal property increase this year.
During the meeting of the Marshall School Board on Tuesday, August 24, Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher explained the district is restricted by the Hancock Amendment to determine its tax levy due to the assessment of the property in the district.
Dr. Maher said by state law, the district cannot raise the rate.
The board approved the new tax-levy rate at $2.8316- down from more than $3 last year per $100 of assessed value for real and personal property.
