With the first day of school being held on August 24, the Marshall Public Schools’ Transportation Department had to rework a new routing system that affected many parents and students this week.

In a statement from Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher, “The MPS Transportation Department has transitioned to a new system that cross references addresses with the district’s student information system. Different addresses entered into the two systems may have caused Transportation to have the wrong information.”

This is what caused many bus routes and schedules to fail the first week of school.

As of Friday, August 27, school officials say the Transportation Department has now resolved the problem with the new routing software. The updated routes for this school year is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 30.

Dr. Carol Maher says, “The department has revised all the bus passes and routes for students who have requested transportation. The paperwork has been hand delivered to all schools, along with information for where bus stops will be. This paperwork will be sent home with students this evening. MPS sincerely thanks all parents who partnered with us to get through the huge challenge of changing the transportation system.”
