
Clifton A. “Sonny” Pointer Jr., age 74, of Marshall, MO, died Friday, August 27, 2021, at Legendary Nursing and Rehab in Marshall.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. There will be no visitation.

Born July 4, 1947, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Clifton A. Pointer Sr. and Eva Lillian Bakert Pointer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. On February 3, 1973, he married Vivian Leigh Alsbrooks who preceded him in death on May 25, 2004. He lived in Marshall until 1955, returning to Marshall in 1965, moving from East Peoria, IL. He was a truck driver for Worster-Michigan Inc. and ConAgra, retiring from Cargill in 2010. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two children, Christy Ann England (Chris) of Marshall; Clifton A. Pointer III (Risa) of Dover, DE; six grandchildren, Robbie (Liz), Shelby and Connor England and Eric (Cheyenne), Ashleigh and Ryan Pointer; three great-grandchildren, Raegen and Avery England, and Lucas Pointer; one, brother, Jerry Dale Pointer of Raymore, MO; two sisters, Joyce Dunsmore of Holden, MO and Angel Dawn Tighe of McAllister, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Russell Pointer; stepmother, Hazel Moore Alsbrooks; brother, Larry Dean Pointer; and a nephew, Casey Pointer.
