Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft announced the Safe at Home address confidentiality program has now served over 7,000 crime victims.

According to a press release, Safe at Home provides a designated mailing address for participants to use in place of their home address when creating new records with government agencies and the courts. The mailing address can be used to receive first class, legal, and certified mail, limiting the number of places where survivors use their protected address. Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes, may enroll themselves and their minor children in the program.

Officials say to ensure Missourians have full access to the program, Ashcroft’s office has trained almost 700 Safe at Home Application Assistants serving in 272 non-profit and government agencies throughout the state.

Created by legislation on August 28, 2007, Safe at Home begins its fourteenth year and has a current enrollment of over 2,800 individuals.
