A 21-year-old Sedalia man is facing multiple felony charges relating to an incident in Johnson County on August 26.

According to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, Justice Ryan Taylor is alleged to have entered a residence without permission while the resident wasn’t home. When the resident got home, Taylor is alleged to have had a knife in his hand and used it to force, intimidate and coerce the person into a vehicle. The alleged victim told authorities Taylor hit them in the chest to get them to get in a vehicle. The alleged victim said Taylor was in the back seat of the vehicle and demanded them to drive to Sedalia. The defendant had the alleged victim drive on several streets in Warrensburg and Knob Noster attempting to avoid being detected by law enforcement. However, the vehicle was stopped about an hour and half later, and Taylor was located under blankets in the van.

According to court documents, Taylor is charged with felonies for kidnapping in the first degree, burglary in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon- exhibiting; as well as misdemeanors for domestic assault in the fourth degree and violation of a protection order. Bond is fixed at $10,000 cash only.

Taylor’s initial hearing is pending at Johnson County Circuit Court.
