The National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of west-central Missouri, including Johnson and Pettis Counties in the KMMO listening area.
The Flash Flood Watch goes into effect late tonight and lasts through Saturday afternoon.
Rounds of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected tonight into Saturday as a cold front sits over the area.
Flash flooding will be possible, especially in low-lying areas near creeks, rivers and streams.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Authorities say flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
