Work has begun on Hole No. 12 at the Indian Foothills Park Golf Course. The hole was damaged- making it unplayable- during the torrential rains that brought destructive flooding to west-central Missouri in late June.

Marshall Parks and Recreation Director Chad Unterreiner said the park board received two bids for the work, but one company could start quicker than the other.

The course currently is 17 holes, but Unterreiner said they have created an option to play an 18th hole, of sorts.

Also, Unterreiner said the Avenue of Flags will be placed in the park again on one day this month. He said there will be about 400 flags lining the park on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 on Saturday, September 11. The flags also are scheduled to be placed on Veterans’ Day on Thursday, November 11.

In other news from the park board meeting on Wednesday, September 1, administrative assistant Linda King officially gave her notice. She is retiring.
