After nearly 42 years of service to the citizens of Sedalia, Fire Chief Greg Harrell has retired.

Harrell joined the department in 1979 and worked his way up through the ranks, ultimately being promoted to Fire Chief in June of 2018, replacing Michael Ditzfeld, who retired at that time.

City officials say Deputy Chief Matthew Irwin has been named the Interim Chief while they determine Harrell’s replacement. The city expects the timeline to be a few weeks.
