A shelter house at Indian Foothills Park in Marshall that was partially submerged by floodwater in late June is going to remain closed for a while.

Marshall Parks and Recreation Director Chad Unterreiner said the Seminole Court shelter house- at which the water level nearly reached the roof- is still taped off.

Speaking of the Battle of Marshall gazebo, during its meeting on Wednesday, September 1, the park board gave the go-ahead to replace the structure. However, it still unknown as to whether or not it will be replaced with a wood or metal structure.

Unterreiner said the estimated cost to do either is from $35,000 to $50,000. Unterreiner said insurance will cover part of the cost- about $10,500 ($13,000 total minus $2,500 deductible). He said the board will make a more concrete decision on either metal or wood during a future meeting.

The gazebo was destroyed by a fire on July 24.
