In order to dispel any rumors, Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders has released some information regarding a reported home invasion on Friday, September 3.

Anders says- “Related to the home invasion, deputies, troopers and I conducted a neighborhood canvas (Saturday) morning in Walnut Hills. One burglary was identified on Locust Lane. During that investigation, deputies identified a second possible burglary next door.”

Anders said authorities cleared the home and learned from the homeowners, who were not home at the time, that a vehicle was stolen.

Anders also says, “We were able to locate the vehicle late (Saturday) morning. Thinking this was involved with the home invasion, troopers, deputies and the Sedalia Police Department worked for the next few hours on an ops plan. The vehicle was later observed leaving an undisclosed location, when a pursuit ensued with deputies and SPD. During this pursuit, the driver struck a citizen’s vehicle, causing damage and injury to the driver. The vehicle continued and was disabled, prompting the suspect to flee on foot.”

Anders says K-9 Cav and Deputy Moore were called for a track near Johnson and Washington. While on track, Deputy Chancellor located the driver (whose name has not been released due to the ongoing investigation). It was not the person suspected of the home invasion. This person was arrested, with multiple charges pending to include tampering, possession with intent to distribute and felony resisting, among others.

Anders explains, “While this is a short explanation, with much omitted due to the sensitive nature of this investigation, I wanted to take a second to explain what’s up. I know you will have many questions, but please understand, until we are deeper into this, I cannot answer most of them.”

According to an earlier release from Anders, authorities are in search of a 5-foot-8 to 5-9 white male with multiple tattoos and light-colored short hair or balding, wearing cut-off shorts and no shirt. He says the suspect assaulted a resident at Redbud Circle.

Anders says the suspect is not in custody and still at large. You are urged to call 9-1-1 if you see anyone matching his description.
