A 19-year-old Columbia man is facing a couple of felonies following a break-in in Cooper County back in November.

According to a Probable Cause Statement, the homeowner came home the afternoon of November 20, and interrupted a burglary in progress. The home owner stated he witnessed multiple males exiting his residence carrying firearms. The men placed the riffles in the trunk of a car before fleeing the area.

After further investigation, 19-year-old Jamal A. Johnson, was arrested and charged with Burglary in the Second and Degree and Stealing of a Firearm/Explosive Weapon/Ammonium Nitrate. Each charge is classified as a Class D Felony. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash or surety.

A warrant was issued for Johnson after he failed to appear for a court proceeding on May 10. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety. A bond forfeiture hearing was held June 1.

Johnson’s council-status hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, September 10 at Cooper County Circuit Court.
