During the most-recent meeting of the Marshall Municipal Utilities’ Board of Public Works, it approved a design-build agreement with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co., Inc., for Wastewater Treatment improvements.

MMU General Manager Jeff Bergstrom told the Marshall City Council that this project is long overdue during its meeting on Tuesday, September 7.

Bergstrom says prices are likely to go up if they wait even two weeks for the council’s next meeting on Monday, September 20.

After some concern about quickly approving the agreement was raised by a couple of councilmen, the council approved the first and second readings of the ordinance. The contract price is more than $8.9 million for the project.

In other news, the council approved the first reading of an ordinance for MMU’s operating budget for the next fiscal year. The second reading will have to be approved before it will go into effect.
