Roy Gene Roe Sr., 81, of Marshall, died Wednesday, September 15, at The Living Center in Marshall.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, September 24, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating.  Private family inurnment will be at a later date in Peninsula Cemetery near Blackwater, MO.  Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Saline Animal League and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born September 24, 1939, in Blackwater, he was the son of the late Lewis Roe and Ruby Fitzgerald Griffith, and was raised by his uncle, the late John Hayden Chambers.  Roy lived in the Marshall area the majority of his life and his career was spent as a mechanic.  He was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed restoring old cars.

Survivors include six children: Gina Schaefer of Altoona, IA, Gay Roe Colyn (Randy) of Altoona, IA, Traci Cabrera (Tom) of Des Moines, IA, Michelle Coslet (Jesse) of Marshall, Angie Roe Roettgen (Justin) of Marshall, Roy Roe Jr. (Amanda) of Clinton and Brooke Roe Farr (Travis) of Marshall; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; his companion and caregiver, Donna Crawford and her three children, Tim, Larry and Candice; two sisters, Jessie Edde of Marshall and Alice Culpepper of Cherry Valley, CA; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.

In addition to his parents and uncle, he was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, Raymond Roe; and two sisters, Barbie Roe and Ruby Morrison.
