During its most-recent meeting, the Glasgow School Board discussed the Head Start playground area retaining wall.

According to unofficial minutes, this area is maintained by Head Start, and it has been determined that the current retaining wall must be replaced.

Head Start has contracted with Septagon Construction, of Columbia, to completely replace the existing wall with a new wall.

In order to install the new wall, the steps and fence around the area also will be removed and reinstalled.

Work on the new wall is expected begin in the next couple of weeks and last about four to six weeks.

The road along the lower driveway must be closed during the construction project, so traffic will have to be detoured for a few weeks.

Glasgow School District officials want patrons to know this project will be paid for in full by Head Start, not the school district.
