
The park naturalist at Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park invites the public to guided hikes on four weekends in October.
Guided hikes are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on the following Saturdays: October 2, October 9, October 23 and 30. Persons interested can meet the naturalist at the large shelter house parking lot by 9:45 a.m.
According to a press release, participants should come prepared to experience a variety of terrain; some trails may be rugged. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, bring water and wear sturdy shoes and insect repellent.
The public is strongly encouraged to follow social-distancing guidelines and be proactive in protecting themselves and others.
