Facing a couple of felony charges for allegedly pointing a handgun out of the driver’s-side window of a vehicle and discharging one round of ammunition across the westbound lanes of I-70 at the 56.2 mile marker on July 19, a Kansas City man is due in court this week.

Court documents say Lanny Cunningham is charged with felonies for unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Bond originally was set at $25,000 cash only. However, Cunningham’s lawyer filed a motion for bond reduction on August 9, and the court lowered bond to $25,000 cash or surety.

Cunningham pleaded not guilty on July 21. His next hearing is scheduled to be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
