In order to be transparent and give the public an opportunity to comment, the Marshall School Board held a public forum to allow Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher to explain the audit from the State Auditor’s Office on Tuesday, September 21.

During her explanation, Dr. Maher offered a slide presentation with all of the findings of the auditors and the district’s response and interventions implemented to each.

Dr. Maher said the district’s administrative team met with the auditors to go over the findings, and despite the “Fair” rating, Dr. Maher was pleased with the outcome because no major discrepancies were found.

Board President Bryon Jacques offered more about the process.

Community members Roger Blakely and Jack Lenz Jr. offered comments and recommendations during that period of the special meeting held at Spainhower Primary School.

Dr. Maher said the district has not received the final bill from the State Auditor’s Office, but the original estimate was between $65,000 and $85,000. She said, however, the final bill could be as much as $125,000.
