The active case count of COVID-19 in Lafayette County decreased by double digits on Tuesday, September 28, from the day before.

According to the Lafayette County Health Department, the active case count dropped from 70 to 51 in the county. The death total stayed the same at 71.

The number of persons hospitalized due to the virus in the county also dipped from 16 to nine.

Only five more positive cases were added to the county’s total to 3,495 since the beginning of the pandemic.

As of September 27, the positivity rate was 9.11 percent in the county.

The Lafayette County Health Department is offering the Pfizer vaccine from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Pfizer vaccine is available to all residents at least 12 years of age.
