The active case count of COVID-19 in Lafayette County is still above 50, according to the most-recent numbers from the Lafayette County Health Department.

Updated on Friday, October 1, the active case count increased to 54 from 51 earlier last week. The death total stayed the same at 71.

The number of persons hospitalized due to the virus in the county remained at nine.

Fourteen more positive cases were added to the county’s total, making it 3,509 since the beginning of the pandemic.

As of September 28, the positivity rate for COVID-19 tests was 7.64 percent in the county.

The Lafayette County Health Department is offering the Pfizer vaccine from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Pfizer vaccine is available to all residents at least 12 years of age.
