For the first time in a while, the active case count of COVID-19 in Lafayette County has dropped below 50.

According to the Lafayette County Health Department, the active case count dipped from 54 on Friday, October 1, to 43 on Monday, October 4.

The COVID-19-related death total stayed the same at 71.

The number of persons hospitalized due to the virus in the county remained at nine.

Six more positive cases were added to the county’s total, making it 3,515 since the beginning of the pandemic.

As of September 30, the positivity rate for COVID-19 tests was 6.1 percent in the county.

The Lafayette County Health Department is offering the Pfizer vaccine from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Pfizer vaccine is available to all residents at least 12 years of age.
