The active case count of COVID-19 in Lafayette County climbed above 50 again, according to the Lafayette County Health Department.

Updated on Wednesday, October 6, the active case count was 51, up from 45 the day before. The death total stayed the same at 71.

The number of persons hospitalized due to the virus in the county also remained at three.

Nine more positive cases were added to the county’s total, making it 3,535 since the beginning of the pandemic.

As of October 2, the positivity rate for COVID-19 tests was 6.31 percent in the county, according to the CDC COVID Data Tracker.

The Lafayette County Health Department is offering the Pfizer vaccine from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Pfizer vaccine is available to all residents at least 12 years of age. Also available are the Pfizer booster shots.
