More than 50 students currently are quarantined due to COVID-19 protocols in a Lafayette County school district.

According to officials in the Lexington R-5 School District, 55 students are under quarantine, as of the report on Friday, October 8. That is 40 more than the report the week before.

There have been 40 total confirmed positive cases of COVID-19- up from 30 the week before- in the district thus far this school year. They break down as 19 at LBS; seven at LHS; six at LMS; five at ECC; and three at LLRTC.

District officials say if your student is considered a close contact, you will be notified by the district.
