Northwest/Sacred Heart scored the first seven times it had the ball last night, jumping out to a 56-0 halftime lead and coasting to a 64-16 win over Santa Fe in some eight-man Game of the Week action heard on KMMO-FM.

The Mustangs had things locked up after one quarter, leading 40-0 following the opening 12 minutes. It was 64-0 after three periods.

Isaac Nieters had three touchdown passes- a 22-yarder and also a 20-yarder to Pierson Tichenor in addition to an 11-yard toss to Nick Crosswhite. Tichenor also hauled in a third TD catch, a 16-yard reception from Tanner Damlo.

Four other touchdowns scored by the Mustangs all came on runs from scrimmage, a 10-yarder by Damlo, 25 yards by Jason Boss, a 23-yarder from Ian Smith and a two-yard plunge by Grant Goodwin.

The Chiefs’ TDs were courtesy of Owen Hostetter’s 55-yard romp in addition to Dakota Winn’s recovery of a fumble in the Northwest end zone.

The Mustangs held a 360 to 170 edge in total offense. Hostetter amassed 157 of Santa Fe’s yards with his rushing and pass receptions.

Now 4-3 on the season, Northwest/Sacred Heart will visit Norborne/Hardin-Central; and losers of four straight, the 3-4 Chiefs are heading to Braymer this Friday.
