The Marshall Police Department will be involved with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for a Drug Take Back Event.

The event is scheduled to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 23. The drop off location will be at the Marshall Municipal Court Building located at 5 East Eastwood Street in Marshall (across the street from the Marshall Public Library).

Detective William McMellen says individuals who are not able to bring in their unwanted, unused and/or expired medications to the drop of location will still have other options.

According to the DEA the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way of disposing unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs – while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

McMellen says there are a few items that law enforcement agencies are unable to accept.

The Marshall Police Department hosts this event biannually.
