
A Marshall man claimed a first place title in the 2021 National Corn Husking Championship.
In the Men’s Open division, 30-year-old Khris Deal won a national championship with a net score of 527.3 pounds.
Deal says this is his first time competing in the Men’s Open division. Prior to this year, Deal has won other titles in his age group.
Aside from winning a trophy and gaining bragging-rights, Deal explained what this event meant to individuals who participated.
Deal says Missouri was represented very well with many state competitors placing.
In the Golden Agers Women’s group, Patricia Becker of Carrollton placed second with 38.34 pounds in a 10-minute class; in the Women 50 and Over division, Joan Carroll of Bosworth placed third with 171.18 pounds in a 20-minute class; Emma Schnepf of Boonville placed fourth in the Women’s Open round, with a net score of 166.5 pounds; and in the Golden Agers Men group, John Becker of Carrollton placed Sixth with 60.23 pounds.
The event was held Sunday, October 17, in Oakley, Kansas.
