It’s homecoming week for the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, and the school is aiming to get its parade a Guinness World Record title.
Director of Student Life and Recreation, Beth Rutt, says in honor of UCM’s 150th anniversary the university is looking to beat the Largest Ridden Parade of Mules record, during its homecoming parade.
Rutt says the current record is set at 22 single-rider mules ridden in a parade. As of October 18, the Student Life and Recreation Organization on the UCM campus has scheduled 62 single-rider mules.
To set an official Guinness World Record, a vet must be present during the event; paperwork indicating the actuality of each mule must be on-hand; and official counters will be counting single-riders during the beginning, middle and end of the parade.
Rutt says to learn more about the university’s homecoming festivities or to register for the parade, visit ucmo.edu/homecoming.
The parade is scheduled to begin in downtown Warrensburg at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 23.
