Several bills were discussed during the meeting of the Higginsville Board of Aldermen this week.

First on the agenda was a bill regarding contract services for a turbine engine to be inspected. City Administrator Jeanette Dobson explains.

Dobson said the contract is for services with Sulzer Turbo Services, and will give authority to the electric department to send one of the turbine engines to a repair facility off-site and also an on-site hot-section inspection. The inspections will determine what repairs need to be made. These turbine engines are used to provide power in the SPP market and in times of emergency to support local reliability. The bill was approved.

In other news, aldermen recognized Tina Myrick for 25 years of service to the city as the librarian.

The board also approved a resident to turn their garage into a kitchen at 1010 Main Street for What’s Poppin’, LLC; and a bill for the first addition to the Willowcreek Subdivision for building of new residences.

In addition, the commissioning of Chad Burns as a reserve police officer was given the green light.
