More than 40 percent of Lafayette County residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to the Lafayette County Health Department, as of Thursday, October 21, the fully vaccinated rate is 41 percent of the county, and 45.7 percent of county residents have received at least one dose.

The COVID-19-related death total stayed at 74 in the county since the beginning of the pandemic. Five persons currently are hospitalized due to the virus.

There have been 16 positive cases (including 14 past cases not reported to the health department due to a glitch in the state database) since the last update, increasing the county’s total to 3,610.

The county’s positivity rate is 8.11 percent, per the CDC COVID Data Tracker.

If you haven’t been vaccinated and would like to be, you can visit the health-department office from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Mondays or Wednesdays for walk-in services.
