During the night of October 26, several unlocked cars were rummaged through, items were taken and a vehicle (with keys reported to have been left in it) was stolen in an area city.

According to a statement from the police department, theft from vehicles are one of the most common crimes in Odessa. It is also one of the most preventable.
Authorities say, “Help us by locking your car doors and ensuring all valuables are removed. Thieves look for electronics, bags, purses, firearms and knives. As well as little things like cigarettes, sunglasses, checkbooks and pocket change. Take a moment to look your vehicle over and decide how much opportunity and ability you are giving to thieves.
If you witnessed any suspicious activity last night, or find that you have video surveillance of anything suspect, you are urged to contact the Odessa Police Department at (816) 633-7575.
