Saline County Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. talked about Marshall Municipal Utilities’ (MMU) progress on the project to expand broadband to the rural parts of the county at the commission meeting on Thursday, October 28.
Guthrey said he talked to Jim Widel, IT Director at MMU. Guthrey said because MMU’s board meeting is at the same time, Widel couldn’t make it to this commission meeting.
Guthrey gave some details of the progress so far.
Guthrey said he will try to get Widel to come and give a presentation during a future meeting of the commission.
The website to check out for updates on the progress of placement of broadband cables and infrastructure is mmumo.net.
In other news, Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner said commissioners are still waiting for more guidelines from the federal government before they make any decisions on how to disburse any of the funds received from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). In late May, the county received half of its $4.4 million allotment.
