The Marshall City Council has a new councilperson.

The council approved the appointment of Phesa Wright (left) to serve as Ward 4 Councilperson during its meeting on Monday, November 1.

Wright will serve until April 18, 2022. If she wants to fill out the rest of the unexpired two-year term, she will have to file to run for election to the seat in the April 2022 Municipal Election.

The seat was vacated when Harold Simmons resigned from the council for personal reasons in September.

City Clerk Julie Lewis administered the Oath of Office.
