An area sheriff’s office received a five-figure donation in regards to providing schools with a county-wide resource officer.

The Lafayette County Children’s Services Fund has made a $77,285.79 donation to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office for its continued service to the youth in the area.

Kerrick Alumbaugh, Lafayette County Sheriff, was recently recognized for a being the School Resource Officer to be shared by the Wellington Napoleon, Santa Fe and Concordia School Districts.

According to a statement, Andrew Beckfield is a Deputy at the County Sheriff’s Office and is trained in D.A.R.E. and A.L.I.C.E. training.

Beckfield’s primary mission is to reduce incidents of delinquency in the community by addressing mental health issues, drug and alcohol use, youth violence/bullying and other youth issues in an educational environment.

Officials say Deputy Beckfield is scheduled to be in each school district to pass along his training in D.A.R.E and A.L.I.C.E. to the teachers and students.
