Three bills were on the agenda of the Higginsville Board of Aldermen when it met on Monday, November 1.

According to City Administrator Jeanette Dobson, aldermen approved a bill for an agreement with McClure Engineering for a wastewater plant and pump station design for the sewer system project.

The board also considered approval of a bill for a lease agreement with the Higginsville Fire Protection District for the west garage bay at Turbine Plant No. 2. Dobson explains.

In other news, the board approved a bill repealing a specific ordinance relating to rates for ambulance service. By approval, this brings the city up-to-date with the maximum allowed mileage charge of EMS calls- changing the rate from $15.13 to $17.60 per mile. All other ambulance rates stay the same.

Aldermen also gave their approval to close Main Street from 15th to 22nd Streets for the Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas Parade for about an hour on Tuesday, November 30. The Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony is scheduled to take place at approximately 5:45 p.m. in front of city hall. To allow for the ceremony and parade, the section of Main Street is scheduled to be closed from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. The parade is scheduled to begin at about 6 p.m.
